Safety & Community

How RowBuds keeps movie meetups safe

RowBuds exists to help students actually show up to a movie together. It only works if everyone feels comfortable joining a crew. Here’s how we keep the community safe—and what we expect from everyone.

Students only

Every account is reviewed before it can join crews. During sign-up, you’ll provide your campus details, and we may request a campus ID if additional verification is needed. Accounts that aren’t genuine students are removed.

You’ll only be matched with students from your own campus.

Meet in public

RowBuds is built around public cinema meetups.

Everyone books their own ticket, meets their crew in the theatre lobby, and chooses their own seat. Never send money, OTPs, or personal information to another user.

You’re always in control

Joining a crew doesn’t commit you to buying a ticket.

You can leave a crew at any time before booking. If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts and leave.

Safer crews

A woman is never the only woman in a mixed-gender crew, and women can choose women-only crews.

Gender is used only for safer matching and is never shown to other users.

Community guidelines

Be respectful.

Harassment, threats, hate speech, impersonation, scams, or unwanted advances aren’t allowed. RowBuds is for adults (18+) and is designed for group movie meetups—not dating.

Report & block

You can report or block any user directly from the app.

We review every report and may suspend or permanently remove accounts that violate our community guidelines.

If you ever feel unsafe or are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

Questions or feedback

If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions, we’d love to hear from you.
